Marguerite, the wife of our ancestor Zaccharie Geoffray, gives her name to this Chardonnay wine, planted on a pleasant clay/limestone terroir not far from Mont Brouilly.
Chardonnay
An east-facing area of the Brouilly appellation with fine, well-drained clay/limestone soil.
Vines trellised to a height of 2 metres, to keep a maximum leaf area, for good photosynthesis.
Grassed ground where flowers develop and attract a great many insects for biodiversity.
We use “green picking” in order to obtain a lower yield that is properly ripe and concentrated.
Certified Organic
Hand-picking, pneumatic pressing; after slight cold clarification, the juice from the press is casked in barrels that have been used for 1–10 wines; fermentations and maturing on second lees for 8 months.
Fine light, elegant colour, bouquet with finesse, aromas of white flowers and citrus fruits, very rounded, complex on the palate.
This wine is remarkable when young, but can age for 4–6 years with no fears.
This is an excellent wine for an aperitif, and marries perfectly with fresh-water fish; Pike, trout, pike-perch.
