Our plot-specific wine from 100-year-old vines, with lots of character and good complexity.
White-juiced GAMAY NOIR
A majority of white-juiced Gamay noir, but also a few Chardonnay vines
to bring finesse. 80–100-year-old vines.
Vines planted at a high density of 9,000 vines/ha, pruned into low goblets, traditional in crus,
Ground grassed and partly flowered for Terra Vitis reasoned agriculture. A great many insects are currently repopulating our vineyards.
The grapes are wholly picked by hand and vinified partly in whole bunches in our hillside cellars, whose successive levels allow us to make maximum use of gravity, so as to avoid using either pumps or conveyors for the grapes. Maceration using grids for 10–15 days, pneumatic pressing, and maturing in oak tuns for 7–9 months.
This wine comes from a single 70 a east-facing plot on the lowest slopes of Brouilly hill.
A powerful, muscular Côte de Brouilly with a fine bouquet of black berries, peony, and a touch of pepper, strong and full on the palate with imposing, full-bodied tannins and a spicy finish. This is a wine with very good keeping potential for 10 or more years.
This is an excellent wine to accompany a fine piece of beef, or fatted duck breasts.
