To us, our very steep, stony plot at the top of Mont Brouilly, presents the heightened typicality of the “Côte de Brouilly” appellation.
White-juiced Gamay Noir from various families of the selection of Gamay. Average age of the vines: 60 years
This plot lies at the top of Brouilly hill, on a dry soil made up of a blue metamorphic Dioriterock, south-facing with slopes of up to 50%.
This vineyard is planted at a density of 8,000 vignes/ha with grassed and flower strips for diversification of the flora and fauna. Trained in traditional goblet, tied with osier or rattan.
Hand picking, vinification in whole bunches or partially de-stemmed for 14–15 days, matured in oak tuns until the June following the harvest.
Chapelle 2017 :
"Bright cherry red. So fragrant, floral and prettily spiced. ‘Could be on the Côte d’Or’, says
seasoned burgundy and beaujolais merchant Roy Richards. Wonderful purity on the nose.
On the palate, really spicy and so tangy, with zesty yet deep red fruit. Intense, lively and
scented on the palate too, with definite but elegant structure and a long life ahead. Utterly
mouth-watering and so persistent. Gorgeous."Julia Harding MW( Jancis Robinson)
